Properties
Butirect suppositories contain sodium butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) that serves as the primary energy source for colonocytes.
Mechanism of action:

- – Reduces local inflammation by inhibiting NF-κB and pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Indications
Butirect suppositories are indicated for the management of rectal and anal mucosal disorders, including:
- – Proctitis and proctosigmoiditis (including ulcerative forms)
- – Anal fissures and fistulas
- – Hemorrhoidal disease and post-surgical anorectal inflammation
- – Radiation- or ischemia-induced proctitis
- – Pouchitis and post-anastomotic inflammation
- – Post-surgical mucosal regeneration after hemorrhoidectomy or fistulotomy
They may also be used as supportive therapy in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis involving the distal colon or rectum.

Administration:
- – Wash hands thoroughly before use.
- – Remove the suppository from its blister pack.
- – Gently insert the suppository into the rectum while lying on your side.
- – Remain lying down for a few minutes to ensure optimal absorption.
